Salalah Mobile Theater is a group of like-minded people who want to bring the world’s best movies to everyone, all for free. We believe that if we can share our passion, we can make it happen. The mobile cinema concept was first started in Sweden by Fredrik Gertten, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, who took his local TV station’s camera and began showing free documentaries on the streets of Stockholm. When he moved to Sri Lanka he brought the idea to this country with him, where it has flourished among disadvantaged youth in urban areas. APN (Associated Newspapers of Ceylon), which brought free newspapers to Sri Lanka has undertaken this initiative to help the under-privileged youth. The concept is helping many young people to better understand the society they live in. Advertising, marketing, film releases are all about making money out of other’s dreams so for Salalah mobile theater every individual has the right to dream…even if it means watching a movie on a street corner or in a market place. Salalah Mobile Theater promises to bring the world’s best movies, all for free. We want you to be able download your favorite movies without having to pay for them first. We will also provide them in different languages. We will never charge a membership fee or pay-per-view, all movies will be free.
